In My Head

A scary place indeed! Sometimes I have a difficult time getting out of this head and out into the "real" world. When that happens on those rare (daily) occurrences, I take a walk. I really have to take a lot of walks. I'm lucky to live in a semi-rural area. Total rural would freak me out, so here is just right. Or at least until the publishing/greeting card business takes off and we can buy a winery/goat farm. Not really. Although, I do love goats...and wine. I wonder if goats like wine.

So, semi-rural which equals lots of trees, flowers, birds, squirrels, horse ranches, hawks (love them), and coyotes (love them, too). Since my brain-type mechanism is spinning inward the last few days, I thought I’d share some of my photos of the flora (and a bit of fauna) in my neck of the world. Once everything gets unraveled in this head of mine (and it will, it always does), I’ll post something with words. Maybe I’ll even string some sentences together…in paragraphs even. Whoo-hoo.

  1. I like the contrast between all the greenery (the flowers, the trees etc) and then in the photo with the horses you have what appears to be a barren hill in the background.

Oh, and I love the hawk... :)

  4. Beautiful! Red tail hawks nest in our woods every spring. I love to watch them soar!

Lovely little lady bug hidden in the greenery! And I would so very much like to climb that tree.

Sometimes 'In Our Head' is where we need to visit to reconnect with nature.

  5. Beautiful pictures, one and all, but my favorite is that grand old tree. It has so much character, and if I were a few years younger (okay, if I were fifty-some years younger) I'd like to climb up into its branches and sit there with a good book.

  6. @ Suzie, thanks! x

@ DRS, hawks are awesome. They hunt around our place often and I love hearing them. So cool!

@ Frugal, aren't Oak trees awesome? What always amazes me is how old they are, I wish I could soak up their wisdom.

  7. Hey Scarlett! Another thing we have in common, sweet husbands and hawks as neighbors! Hawks are so beautiful and watching them soar is a pleasure. So graceful and quiet. I totally agree with you about nature. x

  8. Hello Susan! So glad you enjoyed the photos. I'm not much of a climber these days, either, but what a lovely image and I'm sure the tree wouldn't mind at all.

  11. Are those your horses? I'm a horsewoman and also live in a rural or maybe semi-rural community about two hours north of Los Angeles. Very lovely photos. We get the red-tails here, too. They never fail to capture my attention.
