Not a really, really
faux hawk. It’s just that while sleeping part of my bangs somehow got smooshed
(it’s a word) and is now pointing straight up. I keep looking where it’s
pointing, but so far, I’ve not seen anything of merit. I’m not saying that this
means anything (at least not straight out), but I do find it interesting. It
got me to thinking (and you know how dangerous that can be) about a bunch of
articles I’ve read recently about what makes a “successful” person. Does a
“successful” person wake up with an unintentional faux hawk? The world may
never know or at least, I may never know.
Instead of
discombobulating myself with thoughts of whether or not I'm a successful
person, I decided to doodle. Believe it or not, this is actually progress for
me. Hah!
Ms. Swirly-Shell Lady, so damn successful that she just says balls to the faux and goes for the full on mohawk. |
Love this post! Ms. Swirly-Shell Lady looks so damn good with a mohawk and kinda sexy in that slinky dress (is it ok to call a snail sexy? Perhaps..)
ReplyDeleteI feel the pain of your faux-hawk problem! When I awake in the morning my hair is all kinds of crazy; from an 'emo'-look to a slight 'faux-hawk' to a 'dragged through a hedge backwards and then forwards and then backwards again' look. However most of the time my hair seems to sprout horns overnight and I often look like a demented Pan! Or maybe that's just my true nature? Hmmmm.....
Sure, why the hell not? Snails can be sexy. In a weird and freaky sort of way. Hah!
DeleteYou must have a fabulous hairstyle faery who visits you overnight. Lucky you! "Demented Pan" sounds like an especially good look. Very fashionable. Thanks MrGG! x
The details are amazing! Gotta love a snail with a faux-hawk! How you come up with this stuff I just don't know! But I love it!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea where this stuff comes from either, Natalie. They keep telling me that the drugs will kick in soon and I'll be normal, but so far no luck. Hahaha! Thanks, Natalie! x
DeleteSuperbaliscious! I say go for the full on mohawk always! Success begins with suck, anyway. It's following your heart that makes you successful! : ) And I know you follow yours! : )
ReplyDeleteI love have that you have your own language, QuayZ. And you're absolutely correct, following one's heart IS the meaning of success. Thanks for the reminder, QuayZ!
DeleteI seem to always wake up with at least part of my hair sticking straight up, especially when my three year old decides to crawl into our bed and stick his fingers in my hair all night :) It always looks great in the morning! Love the drawing, the hair is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Glad I"m not the only one sporting the sticky-up-hairdo! How sweet to have a three year old's little fingers stuck in your hair. You're a lucky woman, Frugal. Really glad you like my doodle. Thanks! :)
DeleteNow THAT'S a hard sleeper! Real hard.
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope my potential for success in life is not directly proportioned by the freakiness of my hair in the morning! That also goes for the guttural mutterings I'm told escape from my person in the wee hours of daylight, and/or the fact that my ass is generally uncovered and flashing any number of my kids, husband and animals from the hallway as they clamor out of their beds heading for the toilet.
Ms. Lady is workin' that mohawk in her finest! I love a snail with attitude! Just when you think they're all quiet and reserved, they pull out the big guns.
Ohmigod. I've missed you, IK! I've been sleeping in the blogosphere this month, but working my butt off in the real world. And I. Have. Missed. You.
O.M.G. I've missed you too, Scarlett! Everything semi-settled (for now) in that real world I've heard so much about?
DeleteYeah, I really hope my potential for success isn't related to the freakiness of my morning do or the fact that I, too, am barely coherent for several hours upon awakening! Unless of course, the freakier we are in the morning, the more successful we are/will be. What do ya think, Scarlett? Shall we write a cutting edge article about what REAL successful people look like when they get up in the morning??
And yes, actually the quieter a snail is (and they're all quiet) the more it will be wise indeed to watch out. They have attitude to spare!
Rock the mohawk. Why not? I have missed your posts, because you always make me smile. I'm glad to be back from vacation for these great reads.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back, too! And I'm always pleased to give you smile, Amberr! x
Deletehaha...you have a valid point...
ReplyDeleteThe truth is, we could probably use more laughter in the world than more what-makes-a-successful-person articles, anyway! :)
DeleteI love that you woke up with a semi...uh semi faux hawk that is! ha! and it's great that it inspired you to doodle a snail with a semi ;)
ReplyDeleteWeird as it is, it reminds me of my dad's Aunt May...i'll always remember the 3 curly hairs on her chin! and the hair on the snail reminds me of it! so great! except your snail is adorable and she wasn't so much!
If I woke up with another type of semi, I'd have a whole other set of problems!! Glad you like Ms. Swirly-Shell Lady, even if it does have a weird connotation to your dad's Aunt May! Thanks, Devin! xo
Deletehaha! ya definitely a different set of problems! lol
DeleteLove Ms. Swirly-Shell!
see that's the difference in age..you wake up with a faux mohawk, and I wake up looking like a carnival cupie doll.
ReplyDeleteI believe you've given me inspiration for another snail-do! Thanks, YDG! :)
Deletehey IK! I just noticed u signed up for the International Thriller giveaway of White Lies... I already gave the hardcover away but since a lot of people signed up I figured I'd send a couple paperbacks away as well!
ReplyDeleteIf you're still interested, just send me an email with ur address and I'll post one off to you :)
Best,
Jeremy
Would absolutely LOVE to read your book, Jeremy! I'll send you my e-mail. :)
DeleteI'd rather have the hawk then the greasy, stringy mess I usually awaken to... altho, it might look better on a snail, heh! Love your doodles, as usual. :)
ReplyDeleteHmm the greasy-and-stringy-mess-do sounds just up our snail friend's ally. I'll give it a try! Thanks, Andi-Roo! :)
DeleteI should take some pics of my lovely hair in the morning lol. Wish I could wake up with a mohawk instead of curls that tend to try to fly off my head lol.
ReplyDeleteSome of us get faux hawks and some of us curls. It's what makes the world go around! lol Thanks for popping by, Snowies! :)
DeleteThis reminds me of Solon (sp?) in Herodotus. Great passage. Hope you're well, IK!
ReplyDeleteI will have to familiarize myself with this passage. I've been up and down. Our bodies don't always cooperate, do they? Damn. Thanks for stopping by, RA!
DeleteHey Intricate Knot!
ReplyDeleteHa! I love it! You know what your post reminded me of? The debate of mohawks on children. I find it absolutely adorable when I see kids sporting tiny mohawks. It's nice that parents are laid back enough to allow their children at a small age express themselves.
But recently I was out with a close friend of mine at Walmart and as we were walking around, I saw this kid, around the age of 8 or 9, with a cute mohawk. As I was saying "Awww" my friend was saying, "Ewww"! Apparently, she doesn't like it and there are many people that don't.
What do you think about children sporting a mohawk? Just curious to see how you feel about it!
Best Wishes as always!

Mia @ The Muses Circle
Helloooooo Mia,
DeleteSince you've asked, I'm with you. I think children should be able to express themselves in their choice of clothes and hairstyles. I also think that adults need to stop being so uptight about appearances. And while we're at it, it would be really great if people in general would stop being so judgmental of each other.
Thanks for stopping by, Mia! I always enjoy your lovely comments and I can't wait to check out your post on the new books, movies, and tv series coming out!
Best,
IK
What does it mean when I wake up with a Faux Hawk everyday? I think I might be letting my creative muse run wild at night! YIKES!
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to let anything run wild at night, I'd say the muse is your best bet! :)
